A proposed California political party is battling for official recognition, arguing that the state’s coronavirus restrictions kept it from collecting the signatures it needed to qualify for the ballot.
Governors in New York, Illinois, Connecticut, Washington and Utah all have drastically cut the signature requirements for new parties in light of the pandemic and California should do the same, former South Bay Rep. Tom Campbell, chair of the Common Sense Party, said in an online news conference Wednesday.
