Talk to business owners and managers and there is one theme that stands out – Doing business in California is ridiculously complicated. Add on the complexity with federal regulations and it's no wonder business costs are high and critical infrastructure takes forever to get built.

It's too easy for government to keep piling on laws and regulations each time some new issue comes up without really looking at the cumulative burdens on businesses and citizens. It's time to take a hard look at all the laws and regulations and apply some common sense. Many laws and regulations could be streamlined, simplified, or even outright eliminated if they are obsolete. Every so often one has to step back and take the time to clean out all the junk. Maybe it's time to do that in California.
